The
IMC
Rating
The IMC rating (instrument meteorological conditions)
is a very useful rating to add to your PPL. It allows you to fly in
reduced weather minima legally allowing you to take advantage
of instrument approach procedures at suitably equipped airfields. It
could save you a fortune in hotel bills and days off work if you
become stranded miles from home, or even abroad.
The course
is a minimum of 15 hours of dual flight training plus a written
exam and flight test. It covers flying on instruments both full and limited panel,
general handling with sole reference to instruments before going
onto instrument approaches and holding patterns. Durham Tees Valley
has all the required approach and radar aids to carry out the course
locally without costly positioning flights that you might encounter
at other airfields.
The course is a post PPL course and you do need to
have some hours logged as P1 prior to commencing training. For
further details please contact us to discuss your requirements. |
