UNIVERSITY FLIGHT TRAINING AT NORTHERN AVIATION
In September
2002 the
University of Leeds launched
two new, innovative degree programmes: the BSc in Aviation Technology with Pilot
Studies and the BSc in Aviation Technology and Management. These were the first
university degree programmes in the
UK that
integrated pilot training to the level of a recognised qualification. Since
their launch, over 100 students have been successful in not only obtaining an
excellent degree qualification but, for those on the Aviation Technology with
Pilot Studies, also the PPL qualification. Many of these students are now at
various stages of further advanced training.
Undergraduate
students now have the opportunity and experience of learning to fly to the level
of the Private Pilot’s Licence as a part of their degree at Leeds University.
Northern Aviation and Cleveland Flying School are proud to be collaborative
partners with Leeds University as the preferred flight training organisation.
The pilot training facilities and
expertise at Northern Aviation and Cleveland
Flying School, together with
specialist input from professional pilots and experienced flight instructors,
provides one of the best possible starts for anyone wishing for a future career
in aviation. As a student at Leeds, you will experience the best of both worlds and increase
your options for the future.
In addition to
flight training, you will study a range of subjects at the University that will
prepare you for your Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) exams. Flight
training up to the PPL level takes place during the first and second year of the
course at Durham-Tees Valley Airport. The excellent facilities at the airport
and purpose built training environment at Northern Aviation for students from
Leeds provides a stimulating atmosphere and learning environment at a real
working airport and advanced flight training school. Accommodation is provided
for students close by in newly purpose-built, modern flats which are also used
exclusively by students from
Teesside
University.
The
current University Flight Training fleet comprises five
C152's. Further
